Thespian Society Image Logo

The International Thespian Society (ITS) is a student honorary organization.  (ITS) recognizes the achievements of high school theatre students.

We help every organization that request our help with projects onstage. So far this year we have run the Talent show auditions and Mrs. Douglas Byrd rehearsals and Pageant. All of these activities require after school work. Toward the end of May we will be inducting new members into the International Thespian Honor Society.

As the club sponsor, I provide opportunities for students to earn thespian points by training them and providing support to them and their participation in productions on our stage. I also do all the required paper work associated with their membership and projects. I direct all of the technical aspects of what is happening onstage for our club, as well as anyone else’s club or academic program that ask for our help. –Submitted by Robert M. Baker, Jr.

Congratulation DBHS Band Students! On Saturday, two of our eligible band students traveled to Lexington, NC to audition for the All-State Honors Band. David Song placed 7th on tenor saxophone, just missing the cut for the 2nd consecutive year. Elias Grimsley placed 4th on snare drum and was selected to participate in 2019 All-State Honors Band Clinic to be held in Greensboro, NC this May. Eli is one of only 2 high school students from Cumberland County to be selected to this year’s All-State Band!  We are beyond proud of their accomplishments and for representing Douglas Byrd High School on the state level.
