RUSH logo image. R.U.S.H. is a student-led, Christian Club that empowers students to put their faith into action to change their school. Students meet weekly on Wednesdays before school. They have fun together, grow in their faith, and take part in numerous school and community services.

Would you like to be a part of a group that is positively impacting Douglas Byrd?  Would you like to grow your own character and leadership skills?  Then R.U.S.H. might be for you!  R.U.S.H. is a student-led, Christian Club that empowers students to put their faith into action to change their school.  R.U.S.H. meet on Tuesdays at 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. in Room 119.  For more information about R.U.S.H. see Ms. Keeoctae Matthews in room 119.

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)
Advisors: Sharon Bilbrey and LaTara Ray

FBLA is an incorporated, non-profit student organization that aims to assist students in their pursuit of career and business knowledge; improve the leadership skills of students.  The organization aims to provide educational and recreational activities for students, such as state and national conferences, where informative workshops and competitive events testing take place.

Membership Requirements:  Student must submit a membership application, regularly attend meetings, maintain an overall GPA 2.5 and be a student in good standing at all times whether in class or on/off campus-wide.  Students are expected to participate in local, state and national competitions.  Student must be enrolled in a business class during the current school year or have previously completed two business classes to join. Annual dues are $20.

Meeting Days:  Every Second Thursday @ 3:45 – 4:15 p.m. Rm 222, unless otherwise indicated.

Thespian Society Image Logo

The International Thespian Society (ITS) is a student honorary organization.  (ITS) recognizes the achievements of high school theatre students.

We help every organization that request our help with projects onstage. So far this year we have run the Talent show auditions and Mrs. Douglas Byrd rehearsals and Pageant. All of these activities require after school work. Toward the end of May we will be inducting new members into the International Thespian Honor Society.

As the club sponsor, I provide opportunities for students to earn thespian points by training them and providing support to them and their participation in productions on our stage. I also do all the required paper work associated with their membership and projects. I direct all of the technical aspects of what is happening onstage for our club, as well as anyone else’s club or academic program that ask for our help. –Submitted by Robert M. Baker, Jr.
