Inclement weather conditions are possible beginning late today. As always, safety is our top concern. For this reason, Cumberland County Schools will observe a two-hour early release, Thursday, February 20, 2020, for students and all staff.  Primetime will remain open two hours after the release time of their school site.  All after-school activities are canceled for Thursday, February 20, 2020.

Cumberland County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Friday, February 21, 2020, for students and school staff. Morning Primetime will not be available. 12-month employees will report at their regular time. District officials will monitor conditions and provide any updates regarding Friday if necessary

Bachata & Plena dance from Puerto Rico

The teachers of Cultural Arts and Foreign Languages are planning a free program and activities for Multicultural Night 2020. The event will take place on Wednesday, February 26, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Cultural Arts Building. Teachers, support staff and our students will showcase their talents and display students’ research and artwork that night. Come view artifacts, posters, traditional costumes models, dancing, singing, poetry, food, and more. Students, parents, and staff are invited. We hope this will be a fun and joyful celebration of the diversity of cultures at DBHS.

Attention 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students! It is time for ASVAB testing. We will be administering the test here at DBHS on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at 9:00 am. You must sign up using the attached Google Form no later than Friday, February 28, 2020. ASVAB Sign-up Google Form

**The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides you with career information for various civilian and military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors whether you choose to go to college, vocational school, or a military career.
**Local U.S. military recruiters administer the ASVAB at Douglas Byrd High School free of charge to any interested student. There is no military commitment necessary to participate in the ASVAB testing.**

Job Shadowing
Upcoming job shadowing event to H & H Freightliners March 18, 2020. Please see Mrs. Grantham for a job shadowing packet if you are interested. This facility tour will cover all aspects of the truck dealership industry. Students will learn more about the parts department, sales, accounting, inventory control, shipping & receiving, service and the body shop. This opportunity will be great for students interested in logistics, automotive maintenance or body repair or those who are looking to go directly into the workforce after high school.
