Eagles News Center Douglas Byrd High School Soaring High! Winter Luncheon - DBHS SGA (Student Government Association)
Douglas Byrd High School SGA attended a leadership conference hosted by Westover High School on December 5, 2018.  The students got to listen to two educational leaders, Dr. Connelly and Dr. Lowery, share their ideas on what it means to be a leader and a promoter of change in ourselves and the community.

Joy, Peace and Love holiday image.Please consider adopting one of our precious students for Christmas. The beautiful “tree of blessings” is up in the main lobby, courtesy of the EC Department, and you will find little red Christmas trees with numbers on them for each student that is available for adoption. Pick a number and come to see the School Social Worker or click her name Candice Revels to email her for more details. We need all the support possible to make sure the selected students have a wonderful Christmas! All gifts need to be wrapped or bagged and turned in by Monday, December 17th. (Please put your students’ tree number on the bottom of gift for identification)

DBHS students and members of Alpha Omega RHO and Delta Phi Iota were invited to perform in a Stroll Off Competition at Methodist University. They perform for the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity State Conference in front of a packed house! Our students did an amazing job!

Delta Phi Iota Fraternity brothers, Nakendrick, Iumble and Davion, are also FTCC students who have early release and chose to spend their lunch with the students of Mary McArthur Friday. They spoke with the students about making good choices and setting goals. This is an initiative that will continue throughout the school year. (All students pictured have media releases.)

Delta Phi Iota Fraternity mentoring community service at Ireland Drive Middle School. The Byrd students spoke to the young middle school boys about the importance of stepping out of their comfort zone and doing things differently in order to get different results.  They ended the session by assisting the young men in setting personal goals and encouraging them to do their best in and out of school.  They also provided donuts for the young men.
