The awesome Douglas Byrd High School Academy of Green Tech Juniors helped Sherwood Park Elementary School students launch science experiments into near space.  The Sherwood Park Bear went 17.7 miles up before going on a spacewalk!  AoGT students serve as mission control for county schools and allow them to launch into space. Sherwood Park sent up some marshmallows and a wet sponge (ask the chem teacher or me for an explanation when you see us).  The payload returned to earth near Bentonville in some trees in dense woods behind a kind woman named Jamie’s home.  She let us cut down a small tree (not a normal practice) to get to the payload.

Anyway, it is the coolest outreach program on, and off, the planet.  This year it is funded by a grant from the Stephen Shane Fincher Foundation. We will launch again for District 7 on Thursday morning, May 9th.  I will send out a link and you can follow the launch path and see the data by going to the link.
