Who made history? Our Principal!

National Black History Month tribute to Dr. Zoletta Taylor and recognition of George Ellis (Frist Black Male Principal and Zoletta Taylor (Frist Black Female Principal) of Douglas Byrd High School.

Dr. Zoletta Taylor is a Fayetteville native who is a graduate of Douglas Byrd High School, Class of 1986. Through hard work, discipline, and determination, she went on to complete her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees from Fayetteville State University.

Dr. Taylor taught at Reid Ross Classical School before becoming an Assistant Principal at Jack Britt High School in 2006. She was named Principal of Ireland Drive Middle School in 2010, Douglas Byrd Middle School in 2012, and is currently the FIRST African American female to serve as Principal of Douglas Byrd High School.

Dr. Taylor wants all her students to be safe and know that she expects the best from them because SHE KNOWS THEY CAN DO IT!!!
