Douglas Byrd High National Honor Society Induction

National Honor Society image.The Douglas Byrd High National Honor Society will recognize 44 candidates for induction.  Faculty and staff wanting to sponsor a student for induction, need only pay the $20.00 induction fee by cash or check.  All student inductees must pay the $20.00 fee by Friday, May 18, 2018.  Students who have paid the induction fee are required to attend a rehearsal on Monday, May 21, immediately after school, in the large auditorium.  The Byrd High National Honor Society Induction Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 6:30 pm.  

The National Honor Society is a nationally affiliated organization established in 1921 for outstanding and distinguished high school students.  Each chapter within the organization, as recognized by the National Council, establishes its rules for membership based on a student’s outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.  These four components are the foundation for the organization.In order to gain academic entry into the Douglas Byrd High School National Honor Society, a sophomore, junior, or senior, must attain a minimum 3.7 (3.65) Weighted Grade Point Average.  To maintain membership, a student must have a minimum 3.55 Weighted Grade Point Average.  If at any point a student’s Weighted Grade Point Average falls below a 3.55, then that student may be placed on academic probation.
