Are you interested in attending UNC-Chapel Hill but feel you can’t because of tuition cost? If so, the C-STEP program at FTCC might be the perfect opportunity for you.  To be eligible for the program, students must:
* Have a 3.2 GPA or higher
* Interview by the C-STEP Director of FTCC to be considered for the program
* Regularly attend C-STEP functions and meetings
Selected students are GUARANTEED eventual admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill if they earn an appropriate associate degree and successfully complete the program. See your school counselor for more details. C-STEP-Slipsheet

Image of a boy holding a pencil.Current 10th and 11th-grade students: If you’re interested in developing leadership skills, being a role model, and making a difference while earning class credit stop by Student Services to pick up a PGC (Peer Group Connections) mentor application. Applications are due no later than March 7th. See Ms. Matthews in Student Services or Coach Watson if you have questions.

Image of a boy holding a pencil.The Raleigh National College Fair will take place on March 20, 2018 at the Raleigh Convention Center from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Students and families will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from nearly 200 colleges, as well as attend workshops on testing, application tips, essay writing and how to finance a college education. Here’s a one-national scholarship opportunity for the next generation of innovators, creators, and dreamers – young adults who have passions and aspirations that do not fall into the “academic” or “athletic” qualifying categories of traditional scholarships. In 2018, the Taco Bell Foundation will award more than $3 million in Live Más Scholarships to young adults (ages 16-24) for post-high school education. Scholarships range from $5,000-$25,000 and will be awarded to young people who can clearly explain their life’s passion and how the Live Más Scholarship will help them reach their dreams through a 2-minute video. Due date: March 18, 2018 – For more details and information, view the attached fact sheet or follow the

2018 Michael A. DeMayo Scholarship – 15 $2,500.00 Scholarships based on grades, school and community involvement, SAT scores, and a video presentation that encourages fellow teens to abstain from underage drinking and driving and highlights the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving.  Deadline is March 26, 2018. The application is available from your school counselor. You must have a minimum GPA of at least 2.5 in order to compete for this scholarship. Applicants are asked to reflect on one specific essay question and type an essay between 400-500 words. Essay topics along with further information and applications are available in Student Services. The goal of CCAPAP is to award at least one student from each high school in the county a scholarship award. The scholarship and all requested information must be postmarked OR delivered in person to the main office at Stoney Point Elementary School (7411 Rockfish Road) no later than 4:00 pm on Thursday, April 19, 2018.

Buffalo Soldiers Scholarship – Criteria: Current High School Senior, current GPA 3.0 or higher, attending college in the fall. Buffalo Soldiers Scholarship Information  Application deadline is May 12, 2018.

The Future Educators Program is a recruitment initiative aimed at developing CCS’ internal student talent. Future Educators participants are CCS high school graduates who intend to pursue careers in education and who plan to commit to teaching with CCS upon completion of an educator preparation program.

Eligibility Requirements:  Future Educators Flyer
* Must be a CCS high school senior
* Gain admittance to a college or university with a NC accredited Educator Preparation Program for the Fall 2018 semester
* Intend to pursue a K-12 teaching career with Cumberland County Schools

Future Educators participants will receive:  CCS Future Educators Program – Fact Sheet.docx – Google Docs
* Annual summer professional development with a $1000 stipend, beginning the summer following the freshman year of college through the summer of their senior year
* An early employment contract for 3 years (with successful teacher evaluations)
* The opportunity to develop a professional network with CCS staff and peers

Cumberland Community Foundation manages more than 50 scholarship endowment funds created by local individuals, families, and corporations who want to provide a path to higher education for future generations.  Students meeting the general criteria below are eligible to apply:
* Resident of Cumberland County (unless otherwise noted in the scholarship description)
* Will attend college, university, vocational or technical institutions as a full-time student in the fall or within six months following the award
* Academic achievement and potential as indicated by class rank, GPA, and/or standardized test scores (SAT or ACT)
* Financial need (unless otherwise noted in the scholarship description)

A $2250 stipend will be paid to all selected participants.
