Douglas Byrd High School sponsored a military informational fair to provide students important information about military careers.  All students in attendance were given an opportunity to acquire information and talk to military recruiters, active duty personnel, and a representative from the Naval Academy.  Several interested students visited each representative to discuss their concerns or to answer questions about the military and opportunities for careers in the Marines, Air Force, Army and Navy. Several Army JROTC Cadets were also in attendance to ask questions and to gather invaluable information about each military branch. Students enlisting in the military after graduating from high school are awarded a promotion to E-2 if they successfully complete 2 years of JROTC while enrolled as a Cadet in high school.  A promotion to E-2 translates into a military pay raise of approximately $225 each month or approximately $2,700 each year.

The military fair was a huge success and students received invaluable information on career opportunities.
